Drunk driving suspected in fatal Wisconsin car accident

Car accidents can happen at any time for a variety of reasons. When a car accident results in a fatality, many people -- law enforcement officers included -- want someone to blame. In fact, a man in Wisconsin now faces multiple criminal charges because it is believed that he caused a fatal accident; drunk driving is suspected.

The incident happened just before 7 p.m. on a day in early April. According to witnesses, a 40-year-old man was driving his pickup truck recklessly. They claim that he was speeding and swerving across the road, almost striking mail boxes.

Unfortunately, police believe that his vehicle struck a sports utility vehicle from the rear. Three occupants of the SUV -- reportedly members of the same family -- died while a fourth suffered serious injuries. Witnesses say that the driver of the pickup continued on before entering a ditch that sent the vehicle airborne; the driver had been drinking beer prior to the accident, according to his brother, and law enforcement officers claim that he smelled of alcohol.

He now faces multiple charges as a result of the incident, including reckless homicide, reckless driving causing great bodily harm and knowingly operating while revoked causing death. Police say that if blood tests indicate that he was drunk driving, the charges against him will be revised. Regardless of the accusations police might make against the man as a result of the Wisconsin car accident, he is presumed innocent unless there is sufficient evidence that proves guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. Many people facing similar charges want an experienced professional on their side to help them sift through the evidence against them, allowing them to make informed decisions about their case.
