Wisconsin motor vehicle accidents: Charges follow crash

Many drivers likely think little of briefly crossing a fog or dividing line in a roadway. Unfortunately, something that may seem insignificant can ultimately have serious consequences, including resulting in motor vehicle accidents. In fact, states like Wisconsin have created Move Over Laws that require drivers to slow down or change lanes when they come across maintenance or emergency vehicles with flashing lights. Unfortunately, a recent accident demonstrates the harm that failing to do so could create.

The incident reportedly happened around 8:45 p.m. on a day in early September on the southbound lanes of a Interstate I-41. According to reports, a state trooper pulled over a vehicle that reportedly had a defective headlight. Unfortunately, reports indicate that a driver crossed the fog line after the trooper returned to his vehicle.

Though the vehicle missed the trooper's car, it reportedly struck the other vehicle on the side of the road. According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, the driver of the stopped vehicle was reportedly injured. Fortunately, that individual is expected to survive. The driver of the other vehicle now faces multiple criminal charges.

Those who have been injured in motor vehicle accidents are likely aware that even car accident injuries can have serious long-term consequences and generate significant medical debt. If their injuries were caused by another person's negligence, victims in Wisconsin often choose to file a personal injury lawsuit against those deemed responsible. An experienced attorney can help these victims fully understand their legal options and take appropriate action.
